The Blind Grind: E8, Travelling While Blind

Serena, left, and LM, right, pause for a spontaneous photo in a hotel hallway in front of some colorful, abstract art; they are dressed a little fancy. Serena stands, arms folded and cane tucked into her right elbow, left shoulder out. She wears a traditional Kyrgyz kalpak, playfully lowered over her eyes and grins broadly. LM leans in, cane tucked into her left arm, wearing sunglasses and smiling lightly.

“Are you travelling alone today?”

Looking to our upcoming trip to New Orleans, Bay Area Blind Mom and I pore over the frustrations of being a blind traveller, especially in airports. We’re also wrapping up Braille Across America and could still use your support to make braille books more affordable. Thanks to a technical glitch, our livecast is in two parts this week, 1/2 covers intros and what’s in our cup, then we had to reset for 2/2, which covers our travel topic. Dig in, enjoy, and post your eye rolling travel stories in the comments, then share The Blind Grind Facebook page with your friends. Find Blind Broad at this centralized landing page for more on food and happiness.
